How The Exam Works

If after your initial eye exam corrective lenses are a need for you, then contact lenses may be an option of choice. If this is the case, another exam will be set up for your contact lens fitting. Termed a comprehensive eye exam, or simply put, a contact eye exam. In this contact eye exam, your eye doctor will discuss with you your contact lens options. There are many styles to choose from, soft, hard, even colored.

This is the open time to communicate to find which lens will best match your lifestyle and eye condition. Many lenses can be changed every day, some monthly, or weekly it all depends on the lens-style you choose, and which best fits your life. Your eye doctor will also thoroughly examine your eyes checking and testing the eyes from every angle making sure there are no underlying problems that could prevent a proper fitting. You may want to go the contact lens route, but there are certain eye stipulations that can prevent a proper lens fitting. Such as

  • Dry eye
  • Multi-focal lens needs
  • Stigmatisms.
  • Eye allergies

Once fitted, you will be given a trial pair of your new contact lenses. Your eye doctor will have you test them out for a week to make sure your selection was the right fit and there were no troubles. If there is another style, it will be recommended. Once you find the right lens that is a success, you are then officially prescribed you own at home pair to keep.
